Safety Tips for Heavy Snow

For drivers

  • Refrain from driving your own vehicle and use public transportation (subway, bus, etc.).

  • Keep safety equipment for snow damage (chains, sandbag, shovel, etc.) in your car.

  • Reduce your speed on bends, hills, overpasses, bridges, and icy roads.

  • Always maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and refrain from using your brakes on icy surfaces.

 For pedestrians
  • Stay at home if possible.

  • When going out, wear sneakers or hiking boots with a wide sole to prevent slipping.

  • When walking on slippery snow-covered roads and paths, wear insulated gloves and do not put your hands in your pockets.

At home
  • Be a decent resident and clear away snow from the path or road in front of your home or store.

  • Sprinkle calcium chloride or sand on snow-covered roads near your home to prevent slipping.

  • Children and elderly should refrain from going out.

  • In the event of snowdrifts, clear away snow from cars, gates, roofs, and rooftops.

In rural areas
  • Regarding crop cultivation facilities in risk of collapse (such as vinyl greenhouses), prevent damage by performing a pre-inspection or reinforcing any supporting structures.

  • Regarding empty vinyl greenhouses not currently in use in, protect the greenhouse by removing the vinyl.
